Google Hangout

Check out Ms. Adams's seventh graders participating in their first Google Hangout! Students asked and answered questions about school culture with Mr. Donegan's class at Rolling Hills Middle School. How can this make our community safer and stronger?

  1. Hi Ms. Halbig,

Is it possible for a student to use his Chrome while home sick and participate with his class during a lesson? If so, could you please post directions?

Also, how can a student contact a teacher with questions about a lesson while home sick, after school or on the weekend?

    Thanks a bunch!

  2. Hi Lisa,

It is possible. Students who don't have internet access at home need to make sure that their drives are set up to work in Offline Mode (you can find a step-by-step guide for that in the Chromebook Guides box on the upper right of this blog). Once Offline Mode is enabled a student can access the work in his/her Drive whether or not they have a WiFi connection.

Outside of Drive students need a wireless internet connection (to visit a teachers's blog or YouTube, for example).

  3. Thank you!

Also do you know if there is a way for a student at home to work with the class?

    Thanks, again.

  4. There is if the student has set up "Offline Mode" in Google Drive. Other websites would require them to have internet access at home.
